MANILA – Tropical Storm Florita is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday, weather bureau PAGASA said.

Weather specialist Samuel Duran said that based on its track, the tropical storm is expected to be out of PAR Sunday morning even as it could escalate into a severe tropical storm on its way out.

The weather system did not make landfall in the Philippines.

Based on PAGASA's 24-hour public weather forecast, the center of the storm was estimated at 775 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.

"Sa ngayon, walang nakataas na tropical cyclone warning sa anumang bahagi ng bansa (Right now, no tropical cyclone warning has been raised in any part of the country)," Duran said.

"Florita" is moving northwest at 8 kms per hour with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

Duran said residents of the Ilocos region, Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley should expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of the tropical storm.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country is forecast to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms.
