MANILA — Senator Antonio Trillanes IV clarified that he was not complaining about the pullout of his security detail by the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Trillanes said Sunday he had already written a letter to the police and the military to reconsider the pullout of his security escorts, which was effective by the end of June.

"Just to be clear, I never complained about the pullout of my gov't security detail. I can always adjust to the situation. It was merely raised as a public concern in social media and I was asked by the media to confirm the matter," he said in a statement.

"Both the PNP and AFP security detail have been pulled out effective end of June. My letters for reconsideration addressed to both the PNP and AFP are still pending," Trillanes added.

The opposition senator added that the Senate did not provide him with any security detail.

The PNP earlier said they pulled out the security for Trillanes because it was reviewing the deployment of officers, in line with efforts to maximize the use of human resources.

The Armed Forces, meanwhile, said in a statement it has recalled soldiers serving as Trillanes's escorts because their tour of duty has already lapsed.
