MANILA –Philippine National Police Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said Monday he was "open" to criticism of the police's heightened law enforcement drive, but will not heed calls to suspend it.
The Commission on Human Rights had called on the PNP to suspend its drive against loiterers or "tambay" unless its parameters are clear.

(We will implement the law. The CHR should know that.)

Since President Rodrigo Duterte spoke against loiterers earlier this month, police had rounded up violators of various ordinances, including those against loud karaoke parties and going shirtless in public.
Last week, 25-year-old Genesis "Tisoy" Argoncillo, died, allegedly due to mauling in a Quezon City jail cell. He was accosted for allegedly going shirtless in public.
