At least 4 suspected members of a criminal gang were killed in a police operation in Purok 4, Barangay Cumarom, Midsalip town, Zamboanga del Sur, Thursday dawn.

Police Regional Office 9 identified two of the fatalities as Ramon and Rondi Bantayan. 

Rondi is listed as the 7th most wanted person in Midsalip town.

The two were killed on the spot.

Authorities are still identifying the rest of those killed in the operation.

Based on initial reports, police were serving an arrest warrant when Bantayan's group resisted and fired at the authorities.

The criminal gang is believed to be responsible for a series of shooting and cannibalism incidents, according to the police.

Recovered from the suspects were improvised shotguns, a caliber .45 pistol and assorted types of ammunition.
