MANILA – Streaming service Netflix is expanding its anime slate as it announces a new "Ultraman" series and the renewal of "Aggretsuko" for a second season.

The anime adaptation of "Ultraman" will be launched on Netflix in 2019. It revolves around Shinjiro Hayata, a man possessing the spirit and DNA of the legendary hero Ultraman.

The action drama series will be produced by Production I.G. and Sola Digital, and will be directed by Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki.

Meanwhile, "Aggretsuko" is renewed for another season which will debut next year.

The show is about an anthropomorphic red panda, Retsuko, who turns to death metal to cope with her thankless office
job.

Other upcoming anime shows on Netflix include "Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle" set to air on July 18, "Castlevania Season 2" on October 26, and "Cannon Busters" on April 1 next year.
