BASILAN – Ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno will be a "good addition" to the Liberal Party's senatorial slate next year, Vice President Leni Robredo said Friday.

Sereno, who was removed by her Supreme Court colleagues for failing to fully disclose her wealth, told ANC on Thursday that she was "considering" a Senate run.

"Kung interesado siya (Sereno), bakit hindi? Tingin ko naman na napakalaking addition ni former Chief Justice Sereno sa ticket," said Robredo, who chairs the LP.

(If she interested, why not? I think former Chief Justice Sereno will be a big addition to the ticket.)

"Sana interesado siya, lalo na sa judicial reform. Sinimulan niya sa Supreme Court, 'yung judicial reform [at ito] ay isa sa mga pinakakinakailangan dito sa bansa natin," Robredo added.

(I hope she's interested, especially because of judicial reform. She started judicial reform in the Supreme Court and it is one of the things we need most in our country.)

Senator Francis Pangilinan, president of the LP, said in May that he was open to including Sereno in the party's senatorial slate.
