MANILA, Philippines – San Beda University survived a late onslaught from Sean Manganti to defeat Adamson University, 64-62, and progress to the semifinals of the FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup on Thursday.

Down 61-56 with less than 20 seconds left to play, the Soaring Falcons stayed alive after Manganti drained a triple that made it a two-point game, 59-61, with 11 seconds to go.

Two charities by Javee Mocon padded San Beda's advantage again, only for Manganti to splash yet another three-pointer to make it a one-point contest, 62-63, with 1.6 seconds left.

A split at the line by San Beda point guard Joe Presbitero was enough to fend off the Falcons, however, as Adamson ran out of time to complete its comeback.

The Red Lions, the defending FilOil champions, will face De La Salle-College of St. Benilde in the semifinals.

Robert Bolick paced San Beda with 23 points, while Javee Mocon had a double-double of 16 points an d11 rebounds.

Manganti finished with 20 points in the loss – 18 of which came in the final four minutes and 30 seconds of the contest. Papi Sarr added 13 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks for the Soaring Falcons.
