MANILA – Some 179,000 jeepney operators will start receiving their P5,000 fuel vouchers each as early as next week to help them cope with rising pump prices, a transport official said Thursday.
A total of P977-million was allocated for the fuel subsidy program this year, which the government is "committed" to distribute next month, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board chairman Martin Delgra told DZMM.
"These fuel vouchers would be given to qualified and legitimate PUJ franchise holders," Delgra said.
The Landbank of the Philippines was tasked to distribute the subsidies to operators through an ATM card, Delgra said.
Jeepney operators will receive the subsidy in installment basis or around P800 per month in the next 6 months, he said.
