MANILA — Garbage can be converted to aviation-grade fuel, one of the providers of the technology said Friday.

The city of Manila alone, which generates 8,600 tons of waste per day, can produce 50 million gallons of aviation fuel annually, said I(X) Investments co-founder Trevor Nielsen

"One only needs to look at things like thebin picking waste problem here in the Philippines, to see business opportunity. We look at the landfills here and see that as an opportunity," he said.

I(X) Investments is looking for partners, he said.
