MANILA – Former Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Supt. Alfred Corpus on Wednesday said he is not bitter after being removed from his post that he held for only 12 days.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) did not give details about the transfer of Corpus, who will now serve under the office of PNP Chief Director Oscar Albayalde.

Corpus was quick to dispel speculations that politics played a role.

“I’m not 'dilawan', I’m a professional officer, it’s not true. I think it was the oversight committee who evaluated on my performance. They thought it was in the best interest of the service that I be replaced,” Corpus said.

“I used to be the provincial director of Tarlac. That’s it. As I’ve said, nabigla ako pero malungkot pero I’m not bitter,” he added.

According to Corpus, EPD personnel will attest to his performance even if he served only for a short time. 

Incoming EPD director Senior Supt. Bernabe Balba, meanwhile, said he wants to follow the marching orders of President Rodrigo Duterte and Albayalde in the campaign against illegal drugs and criminality, as well as the internal cleansing of the PNP. 

“We see to it that our plans, programs and activities are aligned with those of our regional director and give contribution as part of the team NCRPO,” he said.

Balba reminded all precinct commanders and police chiefs to remain vigilant as he plans to make regular rounds to ensure the orderliness and cleanliness of their respective areas.
