If the Philippine Azkals need inspiration, they should look at what South Korea did in its recent FIFA World Cup performance.

Team manager Dan Palami said South Korea’s massive upset over erstwhile World Cup champion Germany proves that anything can happen in football.

“It’s going to be a daunting task, but hey, if they can do it, the Azkals can,” said Palami through Twitter.

The Azkals are scheduled to debut in the AFC Asian Cup starting January 7 next year in the United Arab Emirates.

The Philippines, ranked 111th in the world, will actually battle South Korea as they belong in Group C together with China and Kyrgyzstan. 

Palami said he was having mixed emotions seeing South Korea beat Germany since the Azkals will have to face the Koreans in the Asian Cup.

“Mixed emotions of pride and at the same time you have to say Oh SH*^!! That’s who we have to play against on our 1st Asian Cup,” said the Azkals team manager in another Tweet.
