MANILA — Mariel Rodriguez turned emotional when she received a heartfelt letter from Queenie, her husband Robin Padilla’s eldest daughter, during her appearance on “Magandang Buhay” which aired Wednesday.

In the letter, Queenie told Rodriguez how much she appreciates having her in their family.

“Dear Tita Mariel, congratulations on your comeback. Thank you for being an inspiration to me and for all mothers. Thank you for bringing my family together and standing up for us when we need it,” Queenie wrote.

“Thank you for being kind and thoughtful. You have a big heart and you deserve all the happiness in the world. You are a rainbow. Keep shining Tita and never stop bringing color to our lives and the life of others,” she added.

Before Rodriguez could finish reading the letter, she already had tears rolling down her cheeks.

The “It’s Showtime” host said it means so much to her that Padilla’s children appreciate the kindness she shows them.

“What they think of me matters. It doesn’t matter kung anong iniisip sa akin ng ibang tao, kung akala nila maingay ako, maarte ako. Pero when it comes to the children of Robin, ayaw ko na isipin nila na hindi mabuting tao or hindi maganda 'yung napangasawa ng papa nila,” she explained.

Rodriguez then reiterated that she will always just be around to support all of Padilla’s children.

Meanwhile, she also shared how she faced the role of being a step-mom after she married Padilla almost eight years ago.

“Kasi ako, may step-mother din ako. Inisip ko lang lagi na 'yung position nila, position ko din iyon so alam ko 'yung pakiramdam. Lagi kong iniisip kung ano 'yung mas maganda para sa kanila,” she said.

“Minsan din kahit sabihin nila na mabait sila sa akin, okay kami, gusto rin nila ng alone time na sila lang kasama nung papa nila. 'Yung they can be comfortable about anything na hindi nila iniisip na may outsider. I give them that,” she added.

At the end of the day, Rodriguez said she wants Padilla’s children to feel that they have a friend in her.

“I always think about it that way, 'yung how would I feel kung ako 'yun. Kasi ako din, stepdaughter din ako. So sabi ko, I’ll just be their friend because they have a mother. Hindi nila kailangan ng isa pa. You can never have too many friends so I am just a friend to them,” she said.

Rodriguez also lauded Padilla’s former wife, Liezl Sicangco, for raising their children the best way possible.

“Kahit minsan hindi sila nagpakita ng masama sa akin. That’s because of their mom. Maraming maraming maraming salamat,” she told Sicangco.
