bin picking-Maynilad cuts down water supply, cites murkiness in Ipo Dam

MANILA—Maynilad Water Services on Saturday said it has reduced water production due to an increase in the sediment content in water coming from Ipo Dam.

The increase in the sediment content was brought on by southwest monsoon rains, the water distributor said in a statement.

Maynilad customers in Quezon City, Malabon, Navotas, Caloocan, Valenzuela, Manila, Makati, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas and Cavite are affected.

"These accounts currently have low pressure to no water, as well as some discoloration in the water supply," the company said.

"We are continuously monitoring the raw water quality in Ipo Dam and conducting the necessary system adjustments so we can return to normal water production levels at the soonest possible time."

Maynilad said it has deployed 52 mobile-water tankers to the affected areas.

Customers may contact Maynilad through its hotline 1626 or the company's social media accounts for updates and inquiries.
