MANILA – Police have confiscated a mobile phone from former senator and actor Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr inside his detention room in Camp Crame, Quezon City after he was able to post a status update on Facebook.

Philippine National Police spokesperson Senior Supt. Benigno Durana said Revilla's phone was confiscated following a surprise inspection.

A Philippine Daily Inquirer report earlier said Revilla posted a status update on his Facebook page on Wednesday, June 20, to mark his fourth year in jail. Revilla was arrested in 2014 on plunder and graft charges in relation to the multibillion-peso Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.

“Today is exactly my 4th year in prison,” Revilla wrote on Facebook.

“This is 4 years away from my family; missing out on the milestones to my children’s lives; 4 long years that I can no longer get back.”

Revilla said he is tired of his long incarceration and yearns to go free.

"May mga panahon na dumating sa akin na talagang gusto ko na sumuko. Pagod na rin po ako. Pagod na pagod na," he wrote.

As of writing, the Facebook post is no longer available.

Durana said an investigation is already underway as to how Revilla managed to sneak a phone in. He added that it is clear that the former senator violated the rules and regulations implemented in the police headquarters.

Despite the incident, Durana emphasized that tight security measures are implemented in the Custodial Center with surprise inspections twice a week.
