MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel superstar June Mar Fajardo is on track for a record-setting seventh Best Player of the Conference award, as well as a record-breaking fifth Most Valuable Player trophy.

At the end of the quarterfinals, "The Kraken" has taken over Alaska's Vic Manuel for the No. 1 spot in terms of average statistical points (SPs) in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup.

Fajardo, who normed 19.6 points and 11.4 rebounds per game during the elimination round, averaged 38.77 SPs through the end of the quarterfinals.

Alaska's Manuel, who had a slim lead over Fajardo at the end of the eliminations, dropped to second place with an average of 37.58 SPs.

In third place with GlobalPort's Stanley Pringle, with 36.08 average SPs through the Commissioner's Cup quarterfinals.

Fajardo has also surged ahead in the race for the season's Most Valuable Player award, with an average of 29.6 SPs through the first two conferences. Pringle is a distant second, with 25.3 average SPs.

The San Miguel center already holds the record for most BPCs, with six. He is tied with Mon Fernandez and Alvin Patrimonio for the most number of MVPs, with four. 

Third in the MVP race is Ginebra's Japeth Aguilar, with 23.6 SPs. Following him are two SMB standouts — Arwind Santos (23.4 SPs) and Alex Cabagnot (22.0 SPs).

Meanwhile, Phoenix's Jason Perkins is leading the race for Rookie of the Year honors after compiling an average of 15.10 SPs through the first two conferences. Blackwater's Raymar Jose is a distant second with 9.94 SPs, and Magnolia's Robbie Herndon is third with 9.09 SPs.

Only rookies who have played in at least 70% of their team's games are qualified for the ROY race. This rule thus disqualifies San Miguel's Christian Standhardinger, who missed the entirety of the Philippine Cup, and NLEX's Kiefer Ravena, who is currently serving a FIBA suspension.
