MANILA — AirAsia Philippines said Friday it started flying between Clark and Taipei.

The maiden Clark-Taipei flight Z2 5126 took off on Thursday and was commandeered by AirAsia Philippines CEO, Captain Dexter Comendador, the airline said in a statement.

"Our return to international skies via Clark hub reaffirms our commitment to travelers in Central and Northern Luzon and Metro Manila who truly deserve nothing but only the best quality service, affordable airfare and efficient connectivity," Comendador said.

AirAsia will operate the Clark-Taipei route 3 times a week, with flights every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

AirAsia expects to grow its fleet to 70 planes from the current 20, Comendador said.
